GRADUATE STUDIES PROGRAM

The department started graduate studies in 1988, due to the need of qualifying students and staff members to be a substitute foreign staff and to be ready for any national research development of the country.

The program consists of general and departmental courses of a total of 30 units, add to that a final project (M. Sc. thesis) in the area of specialization.

About 18 students graduated up to now in different topics of aeronautical engineering discipline.

Graduate Courses offered by the Department

According to the faculty policy to conduct graduate program, the applicant is required to have graduated from engineering school recognized officially with a grade of good or more (B letter grade or more).

The accepted students must fulfill the residency requirement at the university, this is beyond successfully passing 3 compulsory general courses, of a total of 9 credits, then he should pass other departmental courses, at least 4 of a total of 12 credits. After finishing the required courses, the student will start his M.Sc. thesis under the supervision of one or more staff members of the same department. The thesis is of 8 credits.

So, the student, in total, will have studied 29 credits with a passing grade of at least B as total grade point average.

The aeronautical department offers the following courses (each of 3 units credit and one semester duration). Three different specializations (branches) are available for students and interested to conduct research and graduate studies. Two courses are compulsory for each specialization (branch) the student chooses, and the student will choose two or more other courses according to his orientation and supervising advices.
